Holisitic Approach?

I had a long conversation with our oncologist tonight. She, unlike our regular vet, is still thinking the leg was a metastatic lesion… grrr….

Oh well.

We discussed antioxidants, home cooked foods (since he has food allergies), supplements like K9 Immunity. She referred me to a holisitic vet in New Paltz which is close to me. I want to make sure that this vet coordinates with both the oncologist and our regular vet. I am happy that we have some of these options while taking the low-dose chemo that we didn’t have during regular chemo.

If anyone has any experience or feedback about Apocaps or K9 Immunity or whatever those things are that are comparable, I would love to hear. I want to make sure I do everything I can to help my baby.

    Hi Joy,

I am treating my dog, Maggie, homeopathically for her cancer(soft tissue sarcoma). Her vet is Dr. Charles Loops in NC. I am in Maine. He does phone consults, doesn’t need to see your dog. He is highly regarded for cancer dogs. My sister’s dog that had grade II mast cell cancer at age 6 is still here at age 15! Her friend’s dog that had OSA and leg amputated at age 2 I think, also treated by Dr. Loops and she’s still here at age 14 now!

My dog also gets K9Immunity(or something similar as I sometimes try different mushroom products), Apocaps, joint supplement, Maritime Pine bark tincture and high doses of Omega 3 oil. I am not treating her with chemo.

I’m not sure what I can tell you other than these treatments have no side effects that chemo can sometimes have.

gayle did five rounds of doxorubicin (sp?) for a soft tissue sarcoma. she is now on the K9 immunity protocol (has been since june) and seems to be doing very well. we also give glucosamine/condroitin daily.

You will find loads of information about K9 Immunity in the Tripawds Nutrition blog. Check the links to Jerry’s blog posts there for details abut his clinical trial and use of K9 Immunity with his metronomics. You’ll also find links to various discussion forum topics there.

The Tripawds Downloads blog includes a data sheet for the new K9 Immunity Plus from Aloha Medicinals.

And, in the Tripawds Amazon blog, you’ll find some Apocaps feedback from members.

Power Mushrooms and Artemisinin are a couple other immune system supplements members have reported using with success.

    Hope this helps!

Joy, if you’re near New Paltz, I highly encourage you to visit Dr. Marty Goldstein’s clinic, Smith Ridge Veterinary Center, in South Salem. If we loved closeby we wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Dr. Marty is THE dog cancer vet to see for holistic treatment, and he has an amazing track record. He’s only an hour and a half from New Paltz. Here’s a story we wrote about him in our Tripawds News blog, and another story about a very devoted client and her dogs who are all patients of Dr. Marty’s. Hope this helps.
